The Thang

Nolan Richardson (40 minutes of Pain) – Modified

Partner Up:  PAX 1 Starts Exercise while PAX 2 backpedals 50 yards does a Bobby Hurley and runs back and continues the count where PAX 1 left off.  Continue until all reps have been completed.

1. Burpees (50), 2. Squats (150), 3. Big Boy SitUps (75), 4. Little Baby Arm Circles (150 forward and 150 backwards), 5. Merkins (75), 6. Imperial Walkers (150). 

Did some Hamstring Exetensions (Soldier March) and High Knees (Skipping Style) with a short Mosey. 

On Stadium Steps: Decline Merkins (IC 10), Dips (IC 10), Box Jump to top (Squats – 10 OYO),  Incline Merkins (IC 10), Dips (IC 10), Box Jump to top (Squats – 10 OYO.  Rinse and Repeat for 4 cycles.

 CIRCLE OF TRUST:   Counterama, Namerama, I talked about how Fathers Day was an important day for Fathers and how they are accountable to those children they lead.  I was touched by the words shared with us by T-Rex yesterday on Slack and it was a short testimony, but was very powerful.  God Bless him for breaking the cycle and being accountable to those two sons he has!

    Warmup: Mosey from P/L and assemble around the large flag.  SSH (10 IC), Forward Fold (10 IC), Arm Circles (10 F/B IC), Mountain Climbers (10 IC), Mosey to Flags 33-50 (1 PAX at each State Flag.

    Get To Know Your States 

    We started on State 33 (Oregon) to State 50 (Hawaii).  We started with the exercise that was associated with the state you occupied.  After 30 Seconds with AMRAP all PAX rotate to the next station.  #50 Hawaii PAX does a sprint to #1 Delaware (Crickets!!!???), and we started the next 30 seconds.  Once all PAX were at State 1 (Still Delaware) to #17 (Ohio), we moved to next state flag (Exercise) and approx 10 seconds started exercise.  Rinse and Repeat for as many stations we can get to in allotted time.  (We also were to Announce in a loud and proud voice when we reached the State we were born in or the first one we lived in is born abroad).  We made it through 44 states/stations.  Future Note: Incorporate Warm-up into stations or save for 1 hour workout.

    CIRCLE OF TRUST:  Counterama, Namerama, Announcearama : Announced work day for tomorrow, Fallen 5 Ruck, and Convergence July 4th.  Spoke of June being a month of remembering (Memorial Day, Flag Day, Army’s 244th Birthday- HOOORAH).  But it was a good reminder of the sacrifices many made in the birth of our country and ultimate sacrifice to keep us FREE!  We named our new FNG (BodyBag)…We seem have a theme going at HackSaw.

    My eyes are still burning from the Huey and Ducktales (Crop Dusting) yesterday.  Today, we tried to learn a little about the states in the 30 seconds we occupied the space.  Surprised that at the beginning everyone knew who the 50th State was (Hawaii), but Crickets when I asked which was the first (Delaware).  Of course Wazn’tMe, reminded us all that even the people of Delaware aren’t aware they are a state!  LOL….That was good!

      5 Picnic Tables – 4 Stations per table = 20 Total Exercises.  PAX pair up (except IronButt, he was a single today.  We figured since he turns 63 tomorrow he was old enough to not need adult supervision)!!! 

      Station 1 (Biceps/Triceps/Shoulders with Coupons): (With Coupons) Curls (25 lbs), Tricep Extension (25 lbs), Overhead Pre ss (30 lbs), WILD CARD (Dips, Diamond PU, etc.)

      Station 2 (Legs): Squats, Lunges, Jump Squats, WILD CARD (Box Jumps, Step Ups, Etc.)

      Station 3 (Chest): Incline Pushups, Decline Pushups, Merkins, (WILD CARD (Diamond Merkins, Wide Arm Merkins, Chuck Norris Merkins, etc.)

      Station 4 (Core/Abs): Big Boy Situps, Pretzel Crunches, LBC’s, Flutter Kicks

      Station 5 (Cardio): Burpees (Damn You City Bus)!!, Plank Jacks, Mountain Climbers, SSH

      Round 1- 10 Reps of each exercise x 20 = 200 Reps – Once all PAX complete their 4 exercises they hold Al Gore until all PAX are done and then rotate to next Station.

      Reward for finishing all 200 Reps – AYG, JailBreak, Sprint…Whatever you want to call it….Up the hill X2

      Round 2 – 20 Reps of each exercise x 20 = 400 Reps (I might add the SideKick and TheCount happened to be on Station 5 when two City Buses drove by, so add 10 more Burpees to our count for extra credit.  

      Add another 5 Burpee penalty to everyone for an additional bus that drove by!

        8 Stations arranged in circle 15 Yards from center (Home).  Each station is spaced 10 yards apart.  

        Center: Flutter Kicks, American Hammer, Freddy Mercury, Oblique Crunch, LBCs

        Staions: Chuck Norris Merkins, Tricep Extensions (25lb), Diamond Merkin, Squat (40lb), Hand Release Merkin, Overhead Press (30lb), Wide-Arm Merkins, Curls (25lb).

        Mode of Transportation between stations:  Bear Crawl, Lunges, Duck Walk, Reverse Lunges, Broad Jump, Lunges

        8 PAX – 8 Stations (I didn’t plan it that way)… 1 PAX per station.  6 rounds with 5, 10, 15, 20, 15, 10 Reps at each station.  Each round concludes with Mode of Transportation to Center: where 15 IC Reps are done for each exercise.  

        PAX line up in Indian Run formation.  Start to mosey around entire field, 1st PAX in line drops out and performs 3 Burpees, runs to back of line and calls out “SIX”, at which time the next PAX drops out and does 3 Burpees and runs to catch group.  Rinse and Repeat until all PAX do their Burpees.

          Warm up consisted of a mosey to the Great Hall from the parking area.  Side Straddle Hop, Windmill, Arm Circles, Moroccan Night Club, Mosey around perimeter of  the “Field”.  

          The Thang

          “Field of Dreams” – Home Plate (Burpees), First Base (Merkins, Plank Jacks, Mountain Climbers), Second Base (Curls, Tricep Extension, Overhead Press), Third Base (Squats, Lunges, Squat Jumps).  PAX count off by 4’s  (1’s First Base, 2’s Second Base, 3’s Third Base, and 4’s Home Plate).  Home Plate pax perform 10 Burpees, while all other pax perform AMRAP of designated exercises at thier base.  When pax at home plate complete 10 Burpees all pax rotate to next base until all rotate to home plate.  At the conclusion of each rotation all pax from thier base run around perimeter of field and conclude at the next station.  Rinse and Repeat three complete rotations.  

          Concluded with round of Mary’s.

          Discussed my time in Italy and while in Assisi visited the church of St. Francis.  I felt that if we could all live by the words of this prayer our community and our world would be a greater place.

            Began with 4 Corners warm up:  SSH, Plank Jacks, Mountain Climbers, Imperial Walkers. Rotated through all four stations and did exercises IC x 15.  Mosey along path to rear of dog park and around to pavilion and to “Heart Break Hill”.  Concluded warm up with Willie Mays Hayes, Third Grade Exercises, and Ham String Stretches.

            The Thang

            Heart Break Hill (HBH) / Dora 123

            Partnered up at bottom of (HBH). 

            Round 1:  Partner 1 Runs up / down (HBH) while partner 2 conducts exercises.  Merkins (100), LBC’s (200), Squats (300) – During this round it ended up that each PAX conquered (HBH) once during Merkins, twice during LBC’s, and four times during Squats.

            Round 2: (because this group was kicking ass) we modified to AMRAP for exercises while partner did (HBH) once for Merkins,  twice for LBC’s, and three times, but instead of squats we did lunges.

            Round of Mary’s:  We did round of Mary’s until time was complete.  All done (IC) x 10: American Hammer, Heel Touches, Leg Lifts, Hello Dolly.

            This was nice even number of 6 PAX so it worked well with DORA’s.  Had to give DeepDish some remedial training on the difference between SSH and Mountain Climbers!!! 🙂  I’m not sure if the hill going from street level up to pool has an official name, but to me, it will be now called “Heart Break Hill” (HBH)!  The real message was fairly simple:  “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm” — Ralph Waldo Emerson.  Go out and Make It A Great Day, especially for someone else.

              Praise and Prayer request . Yesterday in Church I was reminded, at a time that I needed it, that there is life after death, and we’ll be reunited with our loved ones in the Kingdom. The Transfiguration in Mark 9:1-13 reinforces that. I personally have dealt with a lot of death of family and friends, it will happen . I know there will be a wonderful reunion in our Heavenly Kingdom. Remember there is no expiration on a birth certificate. When that time comes will you be ready?

                The Thang – Millenial

                Goal is a total count of 2000 total reps as a team. The full pax does 100 reps each of a called exercise, then runs a 100m lap back to a point where they gather again for the next called exercise. There will be 10 cycles, which get you to your number. Teamwork matters. The first nine cycles end when the FIRST person gets to 100, which keeps the pax together. The last cycle, which is always burpees, is done together (We ended up doing Burpees for a solid 4 minutes before time ended.
                Cycles: 1) SSH; 2) Lunges; 3) Merkins; 4) LBCs; 5) Mtn. Climbers; 6) Flutters; 7) Imperial Walkers; 8) Squats; 9) Oblique Crunches – 50 per side; 10) Burpees.  Named as year 2000 is within the time period around which the Millenial generation was born.
                Let me say the mumble chatter was strong today, and mostly because Radio-Head saved me from being up close and personal with a “Land-Mine.”  In this case it was a spent condom!  I of course directed everyone to move several feet from that point!  From that point forward, the barbs and jabs were flying!  At one point I recall Mr. Clean threaten to stuff Geek Squad into that “Land-Mine”…and of course there were a few, “That’s what she said” as well.  All in all it was a fun and enjoyable workout!

                Came from today’s reading from “Forward Day by Day”:  Psalm 37:1,3. Do not fret yourself because of evildoers; do not be jealous of those who do wrong.  Put your trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and feed on it’s riches.
                Most days I haven’t been out of bed very long before I catch sight of a headline on my phone or the front page of the newspaper and plunge headlong into fretting because of evildoers.  This seems a particularly dark time in our country.
                Surely, we aren’t supposed to let evil have it’s way while we sit back and wait for God to make the bad guys “wither like the grass.”
                The psalmist’s advice is quite clear: Trust in the Lord. God is in charge of the endgame.  Do good, boldly resist evil, and work for justice, mercy, and peace.  We are reassured that “there is a future for the peaceable,” and “the future of the wicked is cut off.”
                Trust. Do good. Don’t fret.

                3.  Imperial Walker/Burpee – Partner 1 counts (IC- 10) Imperial Walkers while Partner            2 conducts Burpees.  Switch – rinse and repeat until song stops or Q says to move to            next station.
                4.  Merkins/Squats – Partner 1 does 10 signal count Merkins while Partner 2 does                      single count Squats.  Switch – rinse and repeat until song stops or Q says to move to            next station.
                5.  Bicep Curls/Tricep Ext – (25 lbs coupons) – Partner 1 does 10 Bicep Curl while                        Partner 2 does Tricep Extentions. Switch – rinse and repeat until song stops or Q                  says to move to next station.
                After all pax have rotated through the 5 stations – Mosey to one end of P/L and do AYG Shuttle run of 25 back, 50, back, 75 back.  Proceed back to Circuit Circle and Rinse and Repeat.
