The Thang

“DOWN!” is the cue for performing a burpee at any given moment. Maybe did about 30 total during the workout. Should have tried for at least 60.

Partnered up for a “Relay” or “Dora” or whatevs you call it

Cone 1 was starting point, cone 2 was about 15 yards distance and cone 3 was about 30 yards distance.

Run to Cone 3 and back while partner performs Aquamans. Switch off and repeat until you reach 200 Aquamans total combined. Hold Al Gore waiting on the six.

Round 2 involved Bernie to Cone 3 while partner performed Dive bombers. Same as above for a total of 100.

Round 3 involved Walking lunge to Cone 2 and partner holding plank. Complete 2 rounds each.

Circled Up for 2 Rounds of Jackie Chans with a few burpees in between for the resting minute

30 seconds each exercise: American Hammer, Leg Raises, LBC, Heel Touches, Crunchy Frog, and 100s.

Back to Cone 1 with partner:

Partner 1 performed Frogger to Cone 2 and back while Partner 2 did Sumo squats with block. Complete 2 rounds.

Cool Down: 10 count Honeycutts on each arm, 10 count forward fold

Time.

Leadership and Accountability:

Encouraged the group to sign-up for a VQ if they haven’t done so already. Even if you don’t feel ready to Q, sign-up anyways, it will motivate you to get ready. Leadership is earned through action, so uh, take action. This in turn will hopefully increase accountability. Briefly mentioned WuzntMe and I have an accountability chart we started in November to perform certain exercises every day of the month.


Moleskin

Burrito is known to be a leader in the Mumble Chatter category for the workouts. My goal was for the workout to be tough enough so he would be too winded to talk. I called for burpees any time he opened his mouth (at least that was the plan). This man can talk for days. No way I could have done a thousand burpess in 45 minutes. He either caught on to why I called spontaneous burpees, or he just enjoys pain. Either way, he was asking for more and more towards the end.

I later found out Burrito is a lawyer and ordained minister. I don’t think I will ever be able to keep him from talking.

This backblast was the most difficult to type and took forever due to technical difficulties. (I think I need a new computer for Christmas)

    Crisp cool Fall weather of 57 degrees.  Probably coolest temp for Hacksaw to date.

    Moseyed via Greeway to parking lot next to the Collegedale Police Station.

    SSH x 30, WMH x 10, WMH x 10 again (per PAX request from IP participants), Forward Hang x 10, Teapots x 10

    The Thang

    Moseyed down Swinyar Drive to Four Corners Pl and took a right towards the hill.

    Arrived at the bottom of hill and created groups of 3 men.

    1st Round: Man 1 did Bernie up hill, while Man 2 did Carolina drydocks, and Man 3 did squats.  Once Man 1 reached near the top of hill, he called to Man 2 to start the Bernie.  Man 3 started Carolina drydocks, and Man 1 started squats.  When Man 2 reached top of hill, Man 3 started Bernie up hill, Man 2 did squats, and Man 1 did Carolina drydocks.

    Top of Hill: 3 minute core routine consisting 45 seconds each of leg lift, plank step through, alternating single leg V-ups, and hammers.  Moseyed back down hill.

    2nd Round:  Same format as 1st round.  Man 1 started with bunny hop up hill, while Man 2 did burpees, and Man 3 did Al Gore.  Rotate in same order once you reach near top of hill.

    Top of Hill Round 2: same core work as before but only 30 seconds each.  Moseyed down hill.

    3rd Round:  Same format again.  Man 1 did a bear crawl up hill, while Man 2 did reverse lunges, and Man 3 did merkins.  Again, rotate in same order once a man reached near the top of hill.

    Out of time so we moseyed back to parking lot.

    Note: starting and stopping points at bottom and top of hill were large drains on the edge of street.  Google maps measures them to be 300 feet apart.


    COT

    Story of lady my wife encountered on vacation that gave her money for our dinner one night.  Her words of “I don’t know why I’m doing this, I’m just listening to God.” Are we actively listening and willing to do what God tells us?

    Prayer requests from Threeskin (for Noah’s recovery from surgery) and Mayhem (silent request).

    Ended with short prayer.


    Moleskin

    The hill is a long mosey (about a half mile if you cross over Apison pike) from parking lot staring point.  Long trek but worth it to do occasionally.

    Several men used the abs work session to squeeze out some gas.  Flatulence so strong it would have cleared an office building.

      The Thang

      Starting Line in groups of 3 men.

        1. Basketball Slide to furthest cone, 10 Merkins, Basketball slide back to start. Hold Al Gore.
        2. Bear Crawl to middle cone, 10 Merkins, Bear Crawl back to start.  Hold Al Gore.
        3. Walking Lunge to nearest cone, 10 Merkins, Walking lunge back to start.  Hold Al Gore.
        4. Bernie to furthest cone, 15 Merkins, Bernie back to start.  Hold Al Gore.
        5. High Knees to middle cone, 15 Merkins, High Knees back to start.  Hold Al Gore.
        6. Duck Walk or Crab Walk to nearest cone, 15 Merkins, return to start in same manner.  Hold Al Gore.

      Core Work.

      Bruce Lee Routine: 30 seconds each exercise in order. Rest for 1 minute and repeat.  Total of 3 blocks.  Exercises included: Hammer, Leg Raises, LBC, Heel Touches, Crunchy Frog, and 100s.

      Ended with Indian Run with Burpees around perimeter of cones.  Last 4 men complete  5 burpees then run to front of line, tagging the last man in line to stop and complete burpees.


      COT

      Our Core is something most of us ignore and in fact the most important area of our being.  Is your spiritual core where it needs to be?  If not, discipline and hard work is the only way to achieve results.

      Some men decided Burpees were more fun during the last round of Bruce Lee routine.
