COT

2 Corinthians 9: 6; “The person who plants a little will have a small harvest. But, the person who plants a lot will have a big harvest.”

A verse that I read in a devotional back in April that sticks with me each day. It talks about your decisions today and the outcome of those decisions being what you’ve sown, because whatever you plant, that is what you’ll harvest. Plant seeds of kindness? Friends are what you’ll harvest. Plant seeds of laziness or negativity, you’ll harvest bad habits and unhappiness.

Think about the person you want to be, both today and in the future. Are the seeds you’re planting with your choices going to help you to be that person?

Be careful with the choices you make — each one is a seed that will go to harvest one day.

Talked about anxiety; especially pertaining to a personal situation. All of us face times of anxiety at varying levels and it is important to follow and Trust God’s plan during those times. Read the verse: Phillipians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God”

I was in a situation Sunday night where I couldn’t sleep due to some anxiety and I came across this verse. I prayed and allowed God to transform my anxiety into trusting him.

When finished, continue the duckwalk/monkey humper travel while partner does burpees until 6 is in.

Had a few minutes left when 6 finished, blasted out the 4 core exercises as a group until time.

Are you doing the little things it takes to make progress when you might be stuck on a plateau? Monkey humpers and duckwalks get you into that lower range of the squat that we may avoid most of the time. Get uncomfortable in order to move forward and move your concentrica to a place of advantage.

        Procrastination

I have been sitting on this workout for about 4-5 months…… once i got it all together, i put it aside knowing it was going to suck.

I wanted to break it out, but not really…..I always made up some excuse…..I had originally planned this for REBARS first morning out, but changed last minute….other times it was raining……I just let excuses get in the way.

When I got down to the root of it all, why did I procrastinate? Because I really didn’t want to put in the work. I wasn’t willing to put myself in an uncomfortable position to push myself and others.

A lot of these early morning are not fun, it sucks being in the middle of these workouts, it’s painful, we feel like quitting and giving up, but when it’s all said and done when we are finished, the feeling of completion we get is awesome, knowing we likely completed the hardest the we will do all day……..we did that before 6:30 in the morning.

So today, this week, this month, the next time a difficult or hard situation presents itself, don’t shy away, just because you don’t want to do it.

Step into the middle of it, push through the pain, thru the difficult times, and get the work done!

        Moleskin

we had many moans and groans throughout this mornings beatdown.

Rebar told the Q before we got started that he loved him, despite the pain that was coming.

Picabo complained and complained, Juice Box and Freebird just kept on moving like this type of work was normal for them. We had several comments from “respectable” pax on how it would be nice to be in thier 20’s again. then they groaned as they went back into all the burpees.

The Pax all did an awesome job! They Pushed through and Finished! Well Done Men!!

We finished about 1\3 of a mile from our vehicles, so most of the pax walked back and had some fellowship time, 3 of the more “respectable” pax decided to mosey back to thier cars, this was the point where we learned that freebird does not like anyone to beat him, as he joined the front group as to not finish first… LOL

Read two quotes: “What gives definition in your life is what you have built in as part of your life” – Unknown. As my pastor Sunday talked about this, it reminded me of something else I had heard in the past. That was that, the things we want most in life come by going to the places or mindsets that we least want to go. Encouraged the PAX to keep pressing through. The reality is whether it’s physical, spiritual, family life, work life, or whatever it may be, we are all going through something. Keep showing and keep pressing play and the end result will be better regardless of what it looks like now.

How many of you are fathers? Husbands?

As men our day to day lives can be difficult, so many things have our attention.

Wife, Kids, Work, Clients, what ever it may be.

The thought of manhood in this day in age, often take a negative connotation.

But lets look at the characteristics of AUTHENTIC MANHOOD.

            Characteristics of authentic manhood

            1) Rejects passivity

We are not just sitting on the sidelines, not just doing nothing, we are not letting our wives, make all the decisions…we are actively involved in our familes

            2) Accepts responsibility

We take responsibility when we do wrong, we are not placing blame on others, we step into the hard times in life, admit where we are wrong, or where we mess up, move on and learn from it.

            3) Leads courageously

We get out of our comfort zone, leading is never easy, for someone like me who doesn’t like being in the forefront, easpecially leading a mens workout group. But we step into those roles, and lead, even though a lot of times we may be afraid or scared.

            4) Expects God’s greater reward

We take time out of our day to spend time in his word, we go about our days knowing our days may not be easy, but we push through, give God the glory in all that we do, and praise Him for all he does for us.

There wasn’t a whole lot of mumble chatter at all, the men came to put in work and thats what they did.

Blue did mention once or twice how he did not care for the Q at that very moment, but he took that comment back once the workout was complete.

This was YHC’s first time Q’ing at This AO, and i Enjoyed everyminute of it!

Talked about forgiveness. Somebody asked a friend of mine who happens to be a preacher where the line is between forgiving somebody without their repentance versus waiting on it before forgiving, in other words, what wrong doing is bad enough to justify needing their sorry. His response was interesting and it started leading into the mindset and how a calm and forgiving mind is peace but a very calm and forgiving mind is joy. He mentioned that forgiving someone in the eyes of Jesus has simply nothing at all to do with their sorry or repentance for the act (hard to swallow I know!). Alternatively, it has everything to do with you or I (the one forgiving) and the mindset of joy and peace. Forgiving someone is a personal choice and should have nothing to do with your feelings or thoughts towards them or whether or not they are truly sorry. Challenged PAX to forgive in this manner even when they feel like the other party does not deserve that forgiveness.

Q has taken the “very friendly” advice on ways to fix speaker; cleaned it out and it worked just fine this AM….WreckedEm could even hear it all the way from the parking lot at 0532 to the bleachers. It helped guide him to our beatdown.

                COT

The historical event referenced by the workout was the Hindenburg disaster which occurred on May 6, 1937. While docking, the blimp caught fire (it didn’t officially explode) and within 29 seconds, all of the hydrogen was consumed. 35 people (out of 90+) lost their lives.

There are many lessons to be learned from the disaster. One that struck YHC’s fancy was that the zeppelin was originally designed to use helium (which is inert and doesn’t burn, but does make your voice sound funny if you inhale it). But because Germany had a helium shortage at the time, it was cheaper to use hydrogen (which burns like nobody’s business). So in essence, the owners of the Hindenburg prioritized cost over their primary (and most important) mission – transporting passengers safely from one place to the next.

The lesson for us is this: what are the important things in our life and are we fueling them with more expensive helium or cheaper hydrogen? Are we giving our all to our primary missions (as husbands, fathers, leaders, sons) or are we short-changing them? Spend the time, effort, and cost on the most important things in your life – otherwise you may crash and burn like the Hindenburg.

Pax didn’t guess the workout theme during the exercises – they thought it was all about Led Zeppelin, especially since YHC started spouting off Zep trivia between exercises just so we could catch our breath in the muggy air.

The final answer was guessed when we reviewed the B.L.I.M.P.S. acronym during the COT.

Talked about a quote from a Kobe Bryant interview. He noted this was from a teacher of his and it stated “Rest at the end, not in the middle” I started thinking about this over the weekend and how Kobe applied it to his basketball career and was one of the best basketball players of all time. I started thinking about how I can apply this not only to physical limits but also to my spiritual life. I challenged the PAX to live their lives this way in the spirit of true discipleship for Jesus. This means we can’t rest in our lives from a discipleship and spiritual perspective until we are called Home.

Nobody…and I mean nobody liked the beatdown this morning including Q. Lots of grumbles and non-family friendly language used to describe the way PAX were feeling.

Only Toe Tag had to do more Blockees once we got down to 1. He said he didn’t like Q anymore, I asked him to please reconsider later this afternoon after he had time to cool off from the stupidity that was this morning’s beatdown LOL
