Like a Native American run, all pax line up together. The furthest Native American in the back bear crawls to the front position while the rest of the pax are planking and waiting. Once he arrives at the very front of the other Native Americans, he must instruct the Pax to perform Merkins (3). Once that is complete, the next Native American starts walking like a bear *might.

This morning I shared a few words about forgiveness. I’ve often felt that it takes a lot of courage to show vulnerability, so here goes:
This past week I vacationed for my Dad’s birthday with my older brother and a couple of cousins. It brought to mind some of the issues of the past, from a relationship perspective. I’ve got a great Dad, there’s no issues there, and my brother is my big brother and he was kind of like a younger version of my Dad. There have been moments, though, where I’ve been underwhelmed as a son in how a situation was handled. Times where there was lack of support, complete lack of consideration or -the worst- just feeling like you’re second-best in someone’s eyes. In those times, I’d often reflect and question why. Not understanding why there was not much of a connection or just that you were “in the way.” This was difficult at a young age to have to navigate.
In those times, it was my mother who would offer very poignant advice in an extremely simple and efficient way; “Turn the other cheek”, or, “Kill them with kindness”, or “Don’t show them how much it hurts you, show them how much you still care”, she’d say. These simple (yet effective) musings have made a profound impact on me as a person and still do.  And when executed properly, work without fail.
Anyone who knows me, knows that forgiveness is something that I can’t live without. I find myself asking for forgiveness more often times than I deserve to receive. 
I recently read that the simple phrase, “Vengeance is mine” is mentioned in 27 verses in scripture (e.g. Proverbs, Deuteronomy, Romans, Paul’s letters, Gospels, etc). I’m not a super intelligent guy, but if something is mentioned that many times, I say it’s probably worthwhile advice. These three words, are enough for me to take with me into daily battle knowing that I’m not alone, that we have a Father who loves us and cares for us and that He alone will handle the dirty work. It’s our job to follow the example his Son illustrated time and time again by forgiving others, as they will inevitably fall short of expectation.

We talked a lot about Mental Toughness this morning and why it’s important. Those who excel in whatever endeavor they take on aren’t necessarily the most skilled, the smartest or the most physically gifted, it’s those who have built up mental toughness or “grit” through the focused discipline of being consistent to do those things that need to be done to get better. They are the one’s that push themselves beyond what they think they are capable and continuously do the hard things that make them better. I Challenged everyone to get out of your comfort zone and do something that maybe you’ve been thinking about but haven’t taken the steps to start. Look for an area in each of the F’s to get out of your comfort zone and do in order to make yourself better. Set Goals, Grind it out when it feels impossible, Fail and then get right back up and persevere. A big task or goal may look too big at the beginning but you get there one day at a time through baby steps.

Handbag was the only HC that didn’t show. However, he did give a courtesy call to Ringwald at 4:00 AM to let him know he wouldn’t be posting. With friends like that who needs an alarm clock?
CANDU’s excuse for not executing the homework assignment was that he didn’t have time for the video to load. Either he needs better internet or he need more patience. After all you are about to get married and that patience thing will go a long way.

Pax circle up and chop feet. One Pax yells fire.  All hit the ground, roll right, merkin, roll left, merkin, and back up chopping. Rinse and repeat until ALL Pax have yelled fire.

Start with SSH as the music is playing, when the banjo solo begins PAX complete Wide High Knees and continue this until the banjo solo ends, switch to Merkins when the woman sings.  Rinse and Repeat this process until the song ends.

Two weeks ago my faith was severely shaken in both people (definitely happened before) and God.  The problem with this: it truly effected my life in a very negative way that Wednesday.
I was so shaken, exhausted, and anxious that I chose not to teach Awana that night.  I felt it hypocritical to present the gospel with my faith shaken so much.  The devil and evil won that day!
Well, life is not a sprint but a marathon.  Faith will be shaken (whatever your faith may be), but don’t let it be completely broken. Take that step back.  Call an F3 brother (that is what I did). Pray. Meditate.  Whatever it takes, find your way back to faithfulness or you will truly find yourself in a dark place.
My challenge to you: Find your way back to the Third F!

Not much for the moleskin, but I just want to say that F3 means a lot to me. I’m not much for religion, but I definitely believe in an unseen force that guides and shapes us. It is up to us to use that force for good or evil. When I am not showing up, and being a spectacular sad clown, I can feel the force drag me to a place that makes me dark and mean. When I keep showing up to posts my life is remarkably better, and It feels good to make that journey with others that are getting better too. We got a good thing going in Chatt. Let’s keep it up!

The Refill on the Prescription for Pain
12 prescriptions were given out to the PAX.  Each Rx had a Disp # on it which correlated with the number of reps.  This was an additive circuit meaning we did 1, then 1 and 2, then 1, 2, and 3, etc.

Earlier this week, my man Best in Show commented on the changes he had seen in me in the last year, namely in my physical appearance.  This really hit home because I see myself everyday and don’t always notice a change but those around us do.  When I mentioned this to my wife, she commented on how not only my physical appearance had changed with F3 but also my attitude, my faith, and my overall outlook on life.  It really struck me because I really didn’t think I was doing anything different, I was just doing what I loved and that was enjoying F3.  It made me realize what an impact F3 has on our lives, whether we realize it or not.  The positive impact on being a HIM in Chattanooga spills over way beyond ourselves:  it affects our family, friends, and community.  Many people may think this is “just a workout” but it’s so much more.  Time, effort, and dedication will have profound impact on us and those around us.

Mosey to beginning of street lights to begin Route 66:  Break Up Group in 3 sets of 5 and 2 sets of 4.  At first light conduct 1 Rep of Exercise AYG to 2nd light and perform 2 reps of same exercise, AYG, rinse and repeat until 11th Light is reached and 11 reps of exercise are performed.  Total is 66.  (Round 1 – Burpees, Round 2 – Squats, Round 3 – Merkins, Round 4 – Lunges). In all 264 reps will be done (if you did them all)… 🙂 with 10 short sprints for a total of 40 AYG. All Pax hold Al Gore until six is complete. Mosey back Blue Rhino.
