COT

I began this COT by acknowledging a post on social media in which a mother was asked by her 11 year old daughter “why is Biden pushing so hard for wearing masks to protect other people, yet he is so for abortion? Are unborn children not worth protecting?”

Now this sounds very much like a politically charged statement from YHC, however, it was not that at all. It was actually not about Biden or Trump or politics or opinions,

It was about perception and Faith. Children are so perceptive, aren’t they. This young lady drove home a point for me that: we are way too polarized in our country. Ironic and scary, the “United” States is extremely polarized.

Just yesterday, I was teaching about world religions to my students, and they all recognized that the one definite thing a religion or faith practice will do for those practicing that faith is bring unity among them.

I believe whole heartedly we must be convicted and stand for what is right and what we believe in and have the courage to fight for our convictions.

The question, however, comes from where our convictions lie. Why? In this current state of polarization, where are peoples’ faiths resting. Sure seems like people have allowed their faith to rest in the hands of man or even in the hands of an idol, say, I don’t know….political leaders.

Funny thing about that, people disappoint. People sin. People fall short of expectations. God NEVER does.

So, as you read the passage from Isaiah, notice the edge of sarcasm in there. All this beautifully written text simply saying, “wake up morons, nothing compares to the glory of God”, AND the things YOU (man) set up to try and compare are simply man made objects.

Guess what, those things made by the hands of man fall on the burden of man. They cannot sustain without constant care from man.
On the other hand, MAN CANNOT SUSTAIN WITHOUT GOD. NOTHING COMPARES TO HIS POWER, GLORY, LOVE, and GRACE.

11 He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?
13 Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor?
14 Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding?

15 Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.
16 Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires, nor its animals enough for burnt offerings.
17 Before him all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by him as worthless and less than nothing.

18 With whom, then, will you compare God? To what image will you liken him?
19 As for an idol, a metalworker casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and fashions silver chains for it.
20 A person too poor to present such an offering selects wood that will not rot; they look for a skilled worker to set up an idol that will not topple.

21 Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded?
22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
23 He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.
24 No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.

25 “To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

27 Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God”?
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

    COT

I grew up a-dreamin’ of bein’ a cowboy

And lovin’ the cowboy ways…my heroes have always been cowboys.

Willie Nelson said these words in one of his more popular songs. For me, however, my heroes have always been Veterans.
Cowboys are cool, but cowboys are fighting for themselves.

Veterans on the other hand get up every morning fighting for someone else.
Fighting for someone they may not know.
Fighting for someone they might completely disagree with.
Fighting for someone to have the right to disagree with them.
Fighting for you and for me.

I’ve also heard the phrase “you shouldn’t meet your heroes”.
Whoever decided that made sense must have met someone that truly let them down.

That’s the thing about Veteran’s, its almost impossible for them to let you down; because, at some point in their life they made a commitment of willingness to give their greatest gift — life– EVERY person here today.

Please, Please thank a veteran today if you have the opportunity.

Each rep count after the announced veteran was for their age.

BearCrawl length was based on the 38th Parallel in which the cease fire occurred for the Korean War. The Marine Corps was the main force used in this “Forgotten War”

Sprinting after our “Army Representatives” was based upon the number of soldiers serving in a Platoon at 36.

Caraco after our “Air Force Representatives” was based upon the date of their birthday which was the 18th of September.

Rep Count + Yardage Distance = 866 which is 245 (Age of Marine Corps) less than 1111.

“The issue of faith is not so much whether we believe in God, it is whether we believe the God we believe in.”

Shot House got its name through the connection with Hixson High School formerly being the sight for vaccinations for the surrounding community.

Ironically, we are in a time when many are begging for a vaccines to take care of the “Covid-19 Problem.”

Shot House, as the AO, developed as a need after this recent exponential growth in F3 Chattanooga. YHC has no doubt our own Prosciutto could provide some awesome data about the growth patterns, but to the naked eye, YHC sees even further irony…

This exponential growth occurred directly after we were quarantined from this virus in which we search for a vaccine.

While we still search for a Covid-19 vaccine, we clearly see that ALL of F3 Chattanooga is vaccinating what is known as “Sad Clown Syndrome”. This post quarantine era has proven what we already knew: men struggle with loneliness and need something to aid with this struggle, and they need exercise in their lives to help them contend this loneliness.

F3 provides all of these things, so as we close today, YHC asks: where are all of those guys that came out? are they still posting regularly? are YOU connecting with them?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then please continue to remember this is more than a workout, and if you answered no to any of these, then once again, remember it is more than a workout and try to reach out to those that need it.

5 Good will come to the one who lends generously

6 He will never be shaken.

The righteous one will be remembered forever.

        7 He will not fear bad news;

his heart is confident, trusting in the Lord.

8 His heart is assured; he will not fear.

In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.

        9 He distributes freely to the poor;

Psalm 11 reminds us the Lord takes care of the righteous, not self-righteous, righteous or the ones who seek Him for strength. Blindside challenged the Pax to continue trusting the Lord. Don’t flee and fall into the shadows. Continue posting with F3 and continue leading in your community. The ultimate challenge comes in differentiating between caution and fear. Use Caution BUT REJECT Fear.
Today’s workout title was developed together. The workout was definitely a “You Against You” type workout. It was just a workout though. When the workout is over, we face the “real” world, we face the angst, we face fear, we face hardships, and we face rejection. Take care to reject the “You Against You” mentality and lean upon the Lord’s Strength.

Rounding out my honoring of Eddie Van Halen, Pax complete Bent Over Rows to the song “Right Now”. Pax held block in up position until “Right Now”. Down and up each time “Right Now” is said.

So often my COT’s center around my faith and my faith in Christ. Today, however, YHC chose to spotlight a very important Pax to F3 Chattanooga: MoneyBall. His humility, hard work, and passion for people truly help F3 Chattanooga continue to thrive. Much more was said, but let’s just leave it at this: a big thanks to MB for all he does for us.

              COT

I brought a workout in which I’ve used in the past. The “2 Steps Forward with 1 Step Back” routine is a favorite. This workout lends itself so well to a great message within the COT.

Obviously, we take steps forward only to get knocked backwards. That’s life. We must push through it. As a matter of fact, often times, the difference in a single step backward rather than double come from our attitude or perspective.

Additionally, YHC chose, specifically, to avoid unlit poles. We already face enough obstacles to knock us backwards. Why make a CONSCIOUS choice to find the darkness rather than working toward the light?

Sincerest thanks to EVERY man who came this morning including the 58 at other F3 Chattanooga AOs.

                  COT

One might notice this workout was themed based upon stereotypes from the countries represented.

YHC began with a word about stature. Compared to YHC, Oil Can is small in stature. Compared to some of the Huey HIM, YHC is small in stature. Ironically, during the workout, someone pointed the ease in which Oil Can completed reps due to his “130 pound frame”.

Perspective is an amazing thing. Today’s exercise numbers and exercises were chosen to honor Oil Can. He’s 25 (almost) and those were some of his favorites. Additionally, he comes from Melbourne. This is a city often underestimated for its cultural significance to Australia, ironic again, considering its the second most populous city. Again, perspective.

While small in stature, Oil Can’s impact is NOT small in stature. He is a true HIM for our community.

Shouldn’t we all take a lesson from this? A young man, from a foreign land, came here, now is a part of F3. Takes a lot of courage, Grace, and being intentional for him to do what he does.

Can’t we also be graceful? Courageous enough to to be compassionate while holding strong to our sense honor?
